What is an aura?

Oct 3, 2013

About 15-20% of people with migraine get an "aura," which is a manifestation of neurological symptoms which occur before a migraine headache. Seeing lines, dots, or flashing lights or experiencing tunnel vision or blind spots in one or both eyes are all aura symptoms. Severe aura symptoms can include visual or auditory hallucinations and disruptions in smell, taste, or touch. Other symptoms include numbness or difficulty with speech. The duration of these particular symptoms can vary as well. If you are experiencing aura symptoms, contact Dr. Purath today to determine a treatment plan right for you.
