What are nerve blocks?

Oct 3, 2013

Many patients claim their headaches start or are located in the neck area. The occipital nerves typically reside in this area. It is also common for patients to experience pain in the frontal regions specifically the temples. These nerves function as an entryway to the brain where headache pain is generated.

Nerve blocks may stop the flow of pain and relieve the pain. Nerve blocks are usually done with a local anesthetic. Pain relief takes effect within 15 minutes and may last from several hours up to weeks. If you are experiencing headaches, Dr. Purath will discuss the right treatment plan for you.
